Manx Electricity Authority
The Manx Electricity Authority (MEA) has sole responsibility for the generation and transmission of electricity on the Isle of Man. It has retail outlets which also serve as account collection points. Electricity is supplied to over 40,000 properties, of which 36,000 are domestic with the remainder for business customers.
IT Manager, Gary Corkhill stated, "We had a large number of applications (mainly character based) within MEA. We were, however, very restricted in the way we could use them and we did not have the ability to obtain timely management information as many of the applications were standalone and there was little or no integration between the different systems.
We therefore were looking to rationalise our systems to a small number of Windows based core applications, which could give us maximum integration and flexibility".
